ENGLISH TEXT Europe, almost always with my partner Antonel- la, who this year became my wife! To celebrate this event, we decided to plan a four-week tour of Sardinia in August. Needless to say Sardinia is truly wonderful and unique and we had a great time together: along winding inland roads, panoramic coastal roads, and long stretches of unpaved roads. Unique itineraries. To best start this trip we equipped ourselves with new ac- cessories, first and foremost, the versatile tank bag XS312 which enabled us to carry rain suits and all our technological material in a practical and tidy manner. Another really useful purcha- se turned out to be the new Maxia3 Tech E55 top case with a backrest: a very spacious case, where we put our 2 well-packed backpacks and, when necessary, our helmets and gloves, in addition to back protector and under jacket. Sardinia enchanted us. In four weeks we met and talked with a good number of people, ate by the sea, and slept in quiet inland areas, where you could smell the lush vegetation in the air. We are already planning our next trip because for us every trip is never an arrival point but a new beginning!” Motorcycle used: Honda Transalp XL650V. It seems so judging by Matteo Rocca’s enthusia- stic story. “The idea for this trip” - said Matteo - “came from the story of a friend who was in Tunisia last year, and a discussion on a forum I follow www.travelbike.it. So, together with some others the idea to plan a trip to North Africa began to take shape. Thus after delays and much planning, the fateful day of departure arrived: September 27 from Genoa, with the ferry that would take us to the hot African coast. About two weeks later I’d return with memories of wonderful days spent on my motorcycle inter- spersed with breathtaking scenery that I would have never thought I would see in Tunisia. We decided to take our chances a bit and thus star- ted out with only a rough itinerary and no hotel reservations, opting to find accommodations from day to day. The only certainty, other than my BMW R1200 GS, was my 80-liter GIVI bag firmly secured to the rack with Trekker straps. It really was my only certainty because, in spite of the sun, sand, dirt and even rain, on the last day in Tunis, it did not bat an eyelid and remained intact to preserve what was inside. On the first day, when we had just landed, we headed towards Kairouan (the fourth most important city for the Muslim religion), then we headed West where we had read of a specta- cular mountain oasis (Tamerza and Midès - a unique route that would take us along on the famous trail followed by General Rommel). The oasis is truly a wonderful place where, in the middle of the desert, lush vegetation grows in the midst of water that flows from the desert. From there we decided to head towards Tozeur, Nefta (where we were able to visit the Star Wars village), Douz, and Matmata (another scene from Star Wars). Following our route toward the south we reached the oasis of Ksar Ghilane with its famous fort in the middle of the dunes, and then we headed back to the North passing through Chenini and Gabes, Sfax, and Sousse until boarding to return to Italy. Standing on the deck of the ship watching the port of La Goulette getting further and further away and thinking about what we had seen in the days prior I realized that even I had been bit by the famous Africa bug.” Motorcycle used: BMW R1200GS. Accessories: 80-liter Waterproof bag I TRAVEL ALONE, LORENZO ROSSI Lorenzo Rossi is 25 years old and his first solo trip was in 2012: “My motorcycle is an extremely faithful Benelli Trek 1130, a thrilling and sporty traveler that got me to London on my own in 2012, at the age of 23! It was 2500 km round trip; I can truly say that this was my first trip as a “big” traveler. From that point on, every trip, experience, itinerary was marked by the use of the spacious 33-liter GIVI Trekker, otherwise it would have been difficult to have needed items at hand. Since then, I have broadened my horizons, the lines between nations have dissol- ved and there are only new roads to discover: mountain, sea or plain, no matter what, what is important is to travel and live. Thanks.” Motorcycle used: Benelli Trek 1130.Accessories: 33lt Trekker Bag IN THE LAND OF THE CRESCENTMOON BY MASSIMILIANO SARACENI Let’s start with the numbers: 12 days and 6,000 km traveled for Massimiliano Saraceni’s trip in Turkey. “It was a truly wonderful trip. Typical colors and flavors and infinite distances”- so begins the tale of “Macho Max” as he calls himself, -”Istanbul is enormous, just think of its 15,000,000 inhabitants. It’s like 1/4 of all Italians lived there! Crossing the bridge over the Bosphorus on a motorcycle is really exciting. See the signs that read “Welcome to Asia” gave me a sense of the trip, the kilo- meters traveled, the passion that moved me to travel to that land. Of course, Turkey is not just Istanbul with the Golden Horn, the Blue Mosque and Haglia Sophia, Galata Tower, and Topkapi. Turkey is much more: hot air balloo- ning over the so-called ‘fairy chimneys’ in Cappadocia, Pamukkale’s travertine terrace pools and the coast of An- talya. During this unique trip the GIVI 80 liter WP waterproof bag proved to be very useful. It is rugged, waterproof, roomy, and easy to carry. During the hours spent on foot it was a great traveling companion thanks to the shoulder strap, as was the safety kit, which, thanks to its small size, was easy to carry. In Turkey, the highway code requires that every vehicle have two on board! Do not forget that. A flash of the headlights and see you soon”. Motorcycle used: Suzuki V-Strom. Safety kit GIVI TOUR BYMARCO ZAPPALÀ Marco Zappalà is really a fan of motorcycles and GIVI accessories, so much so that he eagerly accepted the invitation to the first GIVI Tour, an event created by GIVI in 2013 to enable its customers to experience an exciting trip together: “I can confirm that I was one of many participants in the GIVI tour on the Grossglockner High Alpine Road (Austria) organized in 2013. I spent 3 days with a close- knit group of motorcycle enthusiasts and the Visenzi family. After meeting them, I can defi- nitely say that not only do they love what they do - and it shows in the attention they give to their products - but they also distinguish themselves with their organizational capacity, availability and professionalism, this enabled us all to visit beautiful places and share days of a truly unique experience: a great trip and a great itinerary. Great GIVI!” Motorcycle used: Yamaha Fazer. Accessories: V35 Side cases. V46 Top case Givi Magazine Novembre 2014 - community 11
