A YEAR AFTER ITS PRESENTATION THE GIVI ALUMINIUM CASE HAS RECEIVED NEARLY UNANIMOUS OPINIONS ABOUT ITS EXCELLENT DESIGN. BUT FEW ARE AWARE OF THE FEATURES THAT MAKE IT UNIQUE IN ITS CATEGORY WORLDWIDE. WE AT THE “MAG” WOULD LIKE TO HIGHLIGHT THAT THERE ARE ESSENTIALLY THREE QUALITIES TO BRING INTO FOCUS: • Opening and release system • Security • Construction philosophy OPENING AND RELEASE SYSTEM The Outback uses a single key to manage both the opening of the cover and the release of the case from its frame. All other similar cases require two keys. But that is not all: the coupling to the frame fixed to the motorcycle can take place without the aid of the key, which can safely remain in your pocket. ap: the key is inserted, it is rotated 90 degrees and then the user decides whether to act on the lever which opens the cover or on the other lever which moves the bar that, lowering two latches, unlocks the Outback from its support frame. This applies to both lateral and top case Outbacks. The former, however, have an additional plus: the lid can be completely removed by means of a patented mechanism that releases the hinge on which it rotates. The usefulness of this feature is highlighted when the motorcycle is equipped with a large top case, which may interfere with the vertical opening of the side case. The single-key opening and release system and the mechanism of the complete opening of the Outback’s lid are patented by GIVI. SAFETY The Outback side hardbag fastening system raises the level of security to unprecedented levels. In addition to the 4 hooks that support and lock the hardbag to the frame GIVI added the “CONTROL LOCK SYSTEM “: t wo little windows that appear red when the case is unhooked and that turn green once the bag is hooked. These indicators allow the user to travel without concerns and tackle dirt roads safely. This system has also been patented by GIVI. Note that all locks used on this range of bags are based on the SicurityLock system and all sliding parts are cast aluminum. CONSTRUCTION PHILOSOPHY The company’s design choice to employ a technology derived from aviation contributes significantly to the uniqueness of the Outback. This technology enables the assembly of different materials together and was applied to the Outback to obtain an optimal structure together with a high quality product. GIVI ACADEMY 2014 FOLLOWING MANY REQUESTS, AFTER THE SUCCESS OF THE FIRST EDITION (2013), GIVI HAS “REOPENED ITS ACADEMY”. THE COMPANY’S TECHNICIANS DEMONSTRATED THE INNOVATIONS AND EXPLAINED THE UNDERLYING CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY TO THE MANY RETAILERS WHO PARTICIPATED. On October 20 GIVI held the second edition of its event for its Italian dealers, to whom it previewed the newest products for the new season. Participation was free with voluntary registration, although only for a limited number of participants. Sixty dealers from all over Italy participated in this edition of the Academy, which aroused so much interest as to push GIVI to consider holding more events next year. The meeting began with the presentation of all the GIVI 2015 new entries, an excellent opportunity to discover the many product lines in the company catalog. In the afternoon, the program shifted attention to the technological aspects, often hidden, which accompany every product from development to production. From the corporate showroom the group moved throughout the different operational units in the long-standing facility in Flero. Given the success of this event and the many requests for participation which have been received, the GIVI management is convinced that next season the idea may be repeated and further developed, with the objective of strengthening the relationship between the company and its dealers. FOR THOSE WHO LOVE ... PEDALS GIVI CASES FOR BICYCLES? EXACTLY. TWO MODELS FOR THOSE WHO REGULARLY USE A CITY BIKE OR “ELECTRIC” BIKE FOR HOME-WORK TRAVEL. In many Italian cities the city bike is attaining the status of a real means of transport, an alternative to the scooter, public transportation, car, and subway. GIVI offers two cases to those who have made this choice, different in their internal capacity, in which users can secure the items they need for the day, protected from rain, shock and prying eyes. Compact to better fit the size and weight of a bicycle, both take inspiration from the lines of the typical motorcycle top case and recapture the features that have made the GIVI brand successful (strength, quality of materials, design, assembly precision, etc.). CY14N has a 14-liter capacity and a streamlined design that integrates well with that of many city bikes. The larger case, CY25N, has a 25-liter capacity with adequate space to stow a helmet, rain cape, handbag, small shopping bags, a good lock... and maybe even lunch. This case is a choice to be considered even by those who ride one of the increasingly common electric bicycles, often used on challenging daily routes. The opening of the cover further differentiates the two models: the larger model opens frontally, to prevent unbalancing the kickstand, while the lighter and more compact CY14N opens to the side. In any event, neither case hampers control of the bicycle and both are firmly installed over the rack, which is essential for its attachment.
