GIVI Magazine - Novembre 2015
ENGLISH TEXT Givi Magazine Novembre 2015 - Turismo 43 area on the outskirts of a fir tree wood, starting point of many paths that take you through these enchan- ting places. We leave the bikes at the right-hand-side parking lot and we prepare for a nice walk. ON FOOT TOWARDS THE ‘EMBRACE WATERFALL’ (CASCATA DELL’ABBRACCIO) From Prato all’Albero we take the ‘forest road’ 00, and just before the Capanna Marcone bivouac, situated in an ample clearing surrounded by tall beech trees, we turn right. We start the descent along an evocative mule-track that goes through the woods. We walk alongside the stream and pass in front of an old mill, now private property. We quic- kly reach the magnificent Cascata dell’Abbraccio, which falls crystal clear in front of an enchanting rock amphitheatre. At the mountain lodge ‘I Diacci’ we stop for a break and to admire this little valley excavated by the river, with little fords and magical woods. On the way back we descend following the indications and, after having crossed some streams, in around 30 minutes we reach the Rovigo bridge, from where we take the path that brings us back to where we started. We get back on SS 477 towards Piedimonte. After a series of hairpin bends and some straight stretches, which all seem dug into the side of the mountain, we see the great iron cross that dominates the pass called Passo della Sambuca (1,061 metres; 10.8 km from Palazzuolo), our next stop. We go at a leisurely pace, to enjoy the unmistakeable scenery of the Senio valley, where rocks alternate with low vegetation creating an in- credible play of colours. Only once we’ve conquered the peak we allow ourselves a break to admire the incredible views of the Mugello valley, before taking the road back that, with another circular route, will take us back to Marradi crossing Passo del Carne- vale (718 m), passing through the quiet village of Palazzuolo sul Senio (5 km). We continue along SP 447 and then take SP 306. FOOD ANDWINE TRADITION Happy to have spent this day in contact with nature, and rather hungry, we leave Marradi behind to head back north. We take SP 302 and reach the beautiful village of Brisighella (23 km fromMarradi), with its unmistakeable profile dominated by three hills, on which there are the Manfredi castle (XIV century), the Monticino sanctuary (XVIII century) and the Clock Tower (XIX century). We go through its maze of streets until we reach the picturesque ‘Via degli Asini’ (Donkey Road), an elevated road, dating back to the XII century, protected by half arches that filter the sun’s light illuminating the scenery: an important defensive corridor used for the transit of carts transporting chalk from the nearby mines, pulled by little donkeys. Land of ancient food and wine traditions (from extra-virgin olive oil to matured cheese, to the meat of the Mora Romagnola to the Moretto artichoke), destination for many food lovers, we seize the opportunity to stop and try some of the specialities of the tasty cuisine of Romagna, before ending our tour with a quick visit to the oldest church of the Lamone valley, Pieve del Tho (just over 1 km from the village), built probably around 909 using the remains of a temple dedicated to Ammon Jove (hence the name of the river), and finally we head back to Faenza. There are those who feel like explorers when they are 50 km from home, and those who feel like that only if distances are measured in thousands of kilometres. But an eclectic vehicle like the KTM 1050 Adventure could be the ideal solution for everybody, because it’s as comfortable as the big multi- cylinder enduro bikes which are all the rage now, without being as big. Moreover, equipped with the GIVI accessories presented in this article, its TOURER abili- ties are enhanced by an extraordinary load capacity. The bike has a brilliant two-cylinder engine with 95 hp, more than enough to tour the world and especially particularly docile. You can ride with the throttle only slightly opened, from 2,500 rounds up, and still have at your right wrist the thrust necessary to overtake or to have some good fun. On long journeys or when it rains, the GIVI windscreen increases the angle of protection from the air, maintaining the adjustability in height, a very useful plus in order to adapt the aerodynamics to the height of the rider. The aluminium rigid OUTBACK cases, apart from being aesthetically pleasing, are capacious and can be loaded really easily. The mounting systems are incredibly robust, and the frames are equipped with a ‘Check control’ indicator, which verifies the correct fitting of the case on the frame. On the other hand, for this KTM GIVI has de- signed a series of dedicated accessories. Like guards for the critical points, such as the tank or the bottom part of the engine, and without being too bulky. This is, in fact, KTM 105 Ad- venture’s best quality: being practical, techno- logical – the standard model has ABS, traction control and multi-map engine – and extremely comfortable without being too heavy or big. Suspension and the general asset privilege comfort, with quite a few off-road virtues as well, while on asphalt it can be a surprise for many people, or at least for those who have not yet ridden one of the recent KTMmodels with ‘Adventure’ in their name… WHERE TO SLEEP N FAENZA Vittoria Corso G.
