ENGLISH TEXT GM: You had to face a lot of adversity and tragedies in your life. I know riders switch off when they race but do you feel like all those struggles made you stronger and give you extra motivation? KS: I was always under pressure from day one. My parents invested all they had to make me race and deep down I always felt like I could not fail and disappoint them. Nothing came easy to me, it’s not like it dropped from the sky like a gift. I had to work hard, I had dark moments, I had to conquer everything step after step and I came all the way from the bottom to the top. Being from Turkey I had to prove myself every single time, always find the team, always find the spon- sors. It’s probably easier for riders from Italy or, but not me. Now it’s going to be easier for Turkish riders: I built the road they are now using to get there. I always say that I am the guy building the highway to motorsports for Turkey. The- re was nothing there before me and I still think I did pretty good, being the construction guy and also winning 5 titles in the process. GM: Last couple of questions, who was your hero growing up, your dream racer? KS: My brothers, they were my heroes. I grew up racing only because they did before me. I really never looked up to anybody racing in Europe because I knew nobody had is as hard as my bothers did starting a career in Turkey. GM: And finally, what is in the future of Kenan Sofuoglu? KS: I’ll maybe race a couple more seasons and eventually retire if I see I start slowing down. At the moment I’m still winning so… My future? That is a whole new story, yet to be written. EXPLORE.
