GIVI Magazine - Maggio 2018

ENGLISH TEXT R&D DEPARTMENT CODEWORD: MAKE WAY FOR THE YOUNGSTERS! ESPECIALLY IF THEY ARE BONA FIDE DESIGNERS, LIKE THE FOUR "NEW ENTRANTS” INTO THE COMPANY'S RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT. ALMOST ALL ARE FRESH GRADUATES AND AS YOU WILL LEARN FROM THEIR INTERVIEWS, THEY ARE ALL READY TO BE THE NEXT INVENTORS OF SOME NEW AND EXCITING PRODUCT LINES! THE PASSION FOR 2 WHEELS IS ALIVE AND WELL, AS IS THE DESIRE TO REACH FOR THE STARS. Andrea Zambelli, Andrea Romagnoli, Francesco Pelizzari and Paolo Camnasio are the names of the four new designers who have joined the R & D section of GIVI over the last two years. They are very young and for each of them, it is their very first job. We chatted amiably with them, unearthed some personal revelations, which will cost someone their job (we are obviously joking) but the picture that emerged is one of four supermotivated young men, happy to do the job they trained for and each of them is equipped with excellent analytical skills. Three of them are motorcyclists (now you know who is at risk)! We have dedicated an insert to each of them, but let’s begin by introducing them collectively. Hi guys and welcome to GIVI MAGAZINE. The column INSIDE GIVI is dedicated to you. How old are you? I (Andrea Z.) and Paolo are 25 years old; the other Andrea and Francesco are 26. A couple of you have already been in GIVI for a few months. Do you all have well-defined tasks within the company? We work in the carpentry division (Andrea R. and Francesco). I work with plastic materials and helmets (Paolo). But I am a designer of accessories, especially soft bags (Andrea Z.). Are you involved in team work activities? Between you and the rest of the R & D department? There is always a comparison before facing particularly demanding steps, essential to the design of a new product. And this also applies to carpentry, where, for example information on metal parts is also exchanged in relation to the design. Which universities did you attend? I attended the LABA of Brescia (Andrea Z.). Which is like the Free Academy of Fine Arts (Libera Accademia di Belle Arti)? It has various departments including Industrial Design. The three of us all come from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Brescia As we speak Milan is at the height of Design Week. Does the management allow you to broaden your vision beyond your set borders? Yes and it helps us. Starting from the sector’s trade fairs where we take a whole day to go through the stands, analyzing the competition, evaluating the new models, etc. We also follow technical events, such as lighting and CNC machines ... sometimes dedicating part of our free time to it. Where do you come from and where do you currently live? I'm from Soncino (Andrea R.) in the province of Cremona. I'm from Mantova (Andrea Z.) and I live in Brescia. The two of us are on our home turf as we come from the province of Brescia. Soncino is famous for ...? Help me out here Andrea... In 1488 the first complete Bible in the Hebrew language was printed by the Soncino printers, who then gave the village its name and also to the the Silk Museum. Do you all see each other socially, or do you have separate lives? He and I (Andrea R. and Paolo) often see each other at the weekend. We share a passion for bikes so organize rides that we can do together and the odd track race. Do you both ride motorcycles? Not me, for now I stopped at 50cc... (Andrea Z.) A 50cc! What does Mr Visenzi think about that? At the interview, almost immediately he asked me "what kind of bike do you have?” Sooner or later I will have to adapt to the trend... Did you guys meet each other for the first time in GIVI? The three of us (Andrea R, Paolo, Francesco), attending the same faculty, have in the past worked together on a project called "MOTOSTUDENT", a competition open to the Universities that sees GIVI among one of the sponsors. You build a bike and then you challenge yourself on the track. At our first race we finished 5th but this year we hope to do better. Are you the youngest within the R & D Department? One of our colleagues is 23 years old ... then there is us.
