GIVI Magazine - Novembre 2018
According to tradition, the edition of the GIVI MAGAZINE distributed at the Milan Motor Show includes updates on all the latest products introduced at the annual autumn motorcycling events. The following overview details the direction recently undertaken by the brand, whilst adding a glimpse into the future... Helmets, soft bags, cases, essential accessories, new fastening systems, accelerated production of assembly kits for new motorcycles on the market, upgraded designs and concepts... not to mention the innumerable innovations launched onto the market during the 2018 season (such as the “bright” Lime Screens for Kawasaki motorcycles). Every new edition of an autumn motorcycle event represents a major challenge for the manufacturers of aftermarket accessories, thereby enriching product ranges. Every time we think that there is nothing left to invent, we are regularly proven wrong with the introduction of new designs, the use of new materials, new product families, etc. A trend which GIVI focuses on at the Milan Motor Show, with the “INNOVATIONS” event space, an area created within the stand that will arouse the interest of the public, the press and riders alike. HARD BAGS The Monokey Side V37 is in the spotlight and the new side case is being displayed at the Milan event in all its splendour. In fact, the announced upgrades are now available in their final versions: with one option being the central “arrow” insert available in a carbon look and now compatible with the three-point fastening system. SOFT BAGS Renewed designs with new models or fresh, new alternatives of older versions. The EA120 is the latest version of the EASY-T model, a useful 15-litre waterproof cargo bag (to be attached to cases or a rear seat/luggage rack), the rigorously waterproof 18-litre EA121 backpack and the EA122 , sized to be welcomed as a tunnel bag in the maxi-scooter market, but also fitting perfectly on the rear seat or a luggage rack. It has a capacity of 23-litres, convenient upper opening and side pockets for concealing its carrying straps supplied as standard. The range also includes a “mini” 5-litre tank bag, equipped with the Tanklock coupling system and the EA123 logo. A “masterpiece” is unveiled within the waterproof GRAVEL-T technical line: the 25-litre GRT711 backpack, the most comprehensive version ever made by GIVI, equipped with multiple compartments and the possibility of adding accessories thanks to the M.O.L.L.E., system. These are waterproof bags, able to protect their contents from any downpour. This also applies to the new GRT714 , a 20-litre roll bag that is extremely versatile in terms of positioning on a motorcycle or scooter and also “compactable” thanks to the presence of an air release valve. Alternatively, the GRT715 and GRT716 are two tank bags: the first offers a 20-litre capacity, water resistance and specific base for a rapid release attachment and detachment system; the second follows the same philosophy, offering greater compactness (10-litres) and ideal for those smaller loads. The list continues with a 5-litre high-tech universal bag for small items, making it easy to stow and transport on Enduro motorcycles. It can be attached to the saddle, to the front mudguard or in combination or as an additional compartment to the GRT717 panniers which are also brand new, with 15-litres capacity on each side and a fastening system incorporating straps that secure directly to a frame. Even the SPORT-T line of performance bags, designed for sports and naked motorcycles, has its new entries. Specifically, the ST607 saddlebag, expandable up to 22-litres and the ST608 leg bag: 3-litres of capacity, three pockets and adjustable elasticated straps. MINI ACCESSORIES The compact E165 nylon rack developed to be mounted to the lid of Dolomiti cases (top and side cases) by using the incorporated belt loops on the cases. Meanwhile, there are two extremely curved polyurethane backrests for the more squared Trekker Outback cases, the generously proportioned E172 for the voluminous 58-litre top case and the more compact E173 for the 42-litre top case. The T519 waterproof smartphone case (available is sizes M and L depending on the size of smartphone being stored), becomes an indispensable complement to the well-known S920 Smart Clip (available in sizes M and L). The M9 MONOKEY aluminium support plate for a top case, practical but also attractive when “naked”. Its refined grooves and satin / anodized finishes make it an accessory that perfectly integrates with the design of many motorcycle models available on the market. HELMETS There was also a lot of attention on two new full-face helmets, both of which are important as each represents the top of the range of their respective categories. The modular X.33 Canyon and the sporty 50.6 Stoccarda . Both have been launched at a formidable price point. The opening version is inspired by the “adventure” line with the well-known GIVI X.01 front panel and is targeted at owners of Maxi-Enduro motorcycles with the dual jet/integral certification, available in 4 colour options and with an excellent level of standard equipment. Carefully designed interiors, made of hypoallergenic fabric that are totally removable and designed to accommodate an intercom. The Stoccarda 50.6 offers an unprecedented aesthetic design, first-class equipment (predisposed for a Pinlock MAX VISION lens), outer shell available in two sizes and a range of colours with totally new graphics from the GIVI brand, including a version dedicated to female riders. The range of helmets for 2019 goes much further including two new models in the modular range, both of which have dual certification: the very versatile X.23 Sydne y, specially designed by our stylist with graphics, modern, aggressive and absolutely convincing, and the more classic mono-tint X.20 Expedition version. An update of the colour range for the X.21 Challenger is now also available. The new GP graphics designed for the 40.5 X-Fiber versions are also worth mentioning. There are innovations involving the JET family, with the introduction of two new models: the colourful 12.4 Future Big , produced with the outer shell in two sizes and the light and comfortable 11.1 Air Jet-R with its full face ventilation system. At the event, the more urban DEMI-JET of the brand unveils the three new colour options proposed for the 10.7 Mini-J . SPECIFIC EQUIPMENT Parallel to the development of new accessories in the company, kits for individual motorcycle models are constantly reinvented through the study of components and specific technical solutions. Amongst our latest offerings for 2018 are those dedicated to the HONDACRF 1000L Africa Twin 2018 Adventure Sport, the Yamaha MT- 07 2018 and the Triumph Tiger 800XC / XR. 40 YEARS OF EICMA!
