GIVI MAGAZINE - JUNE 2024

ENGLISH TEXT First and foremost, congratulations from everyone at GIVI for the double victory at Misano. Were you expecting such an exploit? I’m very happy about the wins at Mugello. We needed them. Those were excellent outcomes. Thanks for the congratulations. Thanks to the team for their work behind the scenes. They work hard, and the results make it all worthwhile. There’s no better feeling! You’re ranked first and having a fantastic season with Lucio Cecchinello’s LCR E-Team. Are you aiming to take home the 2024 title? Undoubtedly, that’s a major goal. Certainly, the team and I set out with that in mind. We’ll see what happens at the end of the championship. We’re going to give it all we’ve got. What do you think about the second part of the championship? Is there a circuit that worries you, or do you have a good feeling about them all? I feel good, always positive. I think you should always have a positive outlook. The only track that is a little more difficult is the Sachsenring. I still like it though. I’m curious to go there and do very well. How much is you experience in other classes, like Moto2, helping you win in MotoE? It has helped me to know myself better, understand what I need, and how to ask for it. It’s helpful. Everything helps to become stronger. How does one prepare mentally and physically to face a new season racing in possibly two different championships, as in your case? I am trying to get the best results in both championships, do well in all the contests, and be focused. It’s what I like to do most, and I try to do it to the max. As an expert driver, is there something you would change in the current MotoE rules? I like the current rules. I might change the Fp1, because it starts at 8:30, and that’s too early. What would you say to the “purists” who think MotoE is far from a real motosport? It’s not far from motorsport. The motorcycles in this championship are real, extremely fast. Of course, there are differences, like the fact that they don’t make noise and don’t shift gears, but the driving technique is the same as you would use in the saddle of a motorcycle with a combustion motor. Which driver do you feel the greatest affinity with? Is there someone who inspires you? With Enea Bastianini. He’s my best friend. Valentino Rossi inspires me because he’s done incredible things. Congratulations also to your teammate, the champion Eric Granado, but at the moment it’s you in the “mag’s” sights. We want to get to know you better, on and off the track. Eric is a great driver, and it’s a tremendous pleasure to be his teammate. He goes very fast, and I’m very THE INTERVIEW MATTIA CASADEI - SILENCE ON THE TRACK! MATTIA CASADEI WAS BORN IN RIMINI IN 1999. HIS COMPETITIVE CAREER, WHICH BEGAN IN 2015, TOOK HIM TO THE MOTOE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP IN 2019, A CATEGORY HE WON IN THE 2023 SEASON. happy to be with him. He’s a great help, and having a teammate as strong as him always helps you to go further. You were born in 1999 in Rimini. What’s your relationship with your city? I really like Rimini. It’s great, and it has everything! Off the track, how do you spend you free time? I spend my free time biking, at the gym, with friends, and with my girlfriend. But almost everything revolves around motorcycles. What sport do you practice besides motorcycle racing? Biking, beach tennis, but mostly motorcycles. Have your friendships changed or remained the same as always? Growing up a bit, friendships change, but my real friends have stayed, and I am happy for that. I have friends in this sport, and it is very nice to spend time with them. Do you have a future goal you absolutely want to achieve? Right now, achieve the best results possible and have fun. What is your greatest ambition? Winning a MotoGP championship is the greatest ambition there is. At the time we are writing this, Mattia is at the top of the MotoE rankings, the electric championship race that runs in conjunction with some of the MotoGP contests.
