a cura di Giampaolo Meda Il mondo GIVI è davvero ampio e ricco di collaborazioni sportive spesso sconosciu- te al pubblico europeo. A tutti è noto l’im- pegno del marchio in MOTOGP ma pochi sanno che GIVI ASIA, con sede in Malaysia, da ben 5 anni “corre” con un’intera squadra in due importanti campionati. I l 2017 ha segnato il 5º anniversario della vincente collaborazione con il team fon- dato a fine carriera dal leggendario pilota malese Shahrol Yuzy (ha gareggiato nel Mo- tomondiale 250 dal 1996 al 2002). Questo Paese ha fatto molta strada nel set- tore delle ruote, spinto dall’entusiasmo di essere protagonista della MOTOGP, che qui corre a Sepang dal 1999. Il primo pilota ma- lese a ricevere una certa notorietà a livello internazionale è stato Shahrol Yuzy Ahmad Zaini, vero eroe per il fan locali, che nel corso della sua carriera ha gareggiato nel Moto- mondiale 250 dal 1996 al 2002. Dopo il suo ritiro dalle corse Shahrol ha dato vita allo YUZY RACING TEAM contribuendo a sviluppare una generazione di giovani pilo- ti asiatici, facendoli competere nei campio- nati Petronas Malaysian Cub Prix e l’impor- tante Aria Road Racing, che quest’anno ha toccato India, Malaysia, Thailandia, Indonesia e Giappone. Alcuni di questi rider sono stati promossi ai campionati mondiali. Citiamo Zulfahmi Khairuddin (Moto3 e Mondiale Su- persport), Adam Norrodin (Moto3), Azlan Shah e Zaqhwan Zaidi, Hafizh Syahrin (Moto2), Khairul Idham Pawi (Moto3 e Moto2). In questo caso l’attività di branding (con marchio presente sulla livrea delle moto e sulle tute in pelle) diventa tecnica: i piloti impegnati nei campionati indossano caschi integrali GIVI, sviluppati per utilizzo racing e in condizioni climatiche ad alta umidità, par- tendo dal know how acquisito nello sviluppo GIVI ASIA & YUZY RACING TEAM ENGLISH TEXT The world of GIVI is broad and also rich in terms of sports partnerships, often unknown to the European public. Everyone knows the Brand’s commitment to MotoGP but few know about GIVI ASIA, based in Malaysia and which for the past five years has been “running” with an entire team in two major championships. 2017 marks the 5th anniversa- ry of the winning collabora- tion with the team founded by the legendary Malaysian rider Shahrol Yuzy Ahmad Zaini at the end of his career. Malaysia has been leading the way in the two-wheel industry, driven by the enthusiasm which arose from being the protagonists of MotoGP, which has been held in Sepang since 1999. The first Malaysian rider to recei- ve international recognition was Shahrol Yuzy Ahmad Zaini, a true hero for local fans who, during his career, competed in MotoGP 250 from 1996 to 2002. Following his retirement from racing, Shahrol founded the YUZY RACING TEAM and as a result he has been helping a generation of young Asian riders, pushing them to com- pete in championships such as the Petronas Malaysian Cub Prix and the prominent Air Road Racing, which this year reached India, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Japan. Some of these riders have been promoted to World Championships. We would like to mention Zulfahmi Khairuddin (and Moto3 World Supersport), Adam Norrodin (Moto3), Azlan Shah and Za- qhwan Zaidi, Hafizh Syahrin (Moto2), Khairul Idham Pawi (Moto3 and Moto2). The start of this article mentions “running” with the team and it is not just a figure of speech. In this case the branding activity (with the GIVI mark on the livery of motorcycles and leather racing suits) becomes techni- cal. The riders involved in the championships wear integral GIVI helmets, developed to be worn during racing in high humidity climatic conditions and it all began with the expertise acquired whilst developing the full-face HPS X40.5 carbon helmet. If that was not enough, GIVI is also present at every circuit in the championship with a mobile showroom.
