GIVI NEWS GIVI VIETNAM SOSTIENE L’ISTRUZIONE ENGLISH TEXT Qualche anno fa GIVI Vietnam ha lanciato un’importante iniziativa benefica allo scopo di raccogliere fondi e investire a favore delle scuole elementari del paese e dei piccoli alunni meno fortunati. Questa volta, il team di RIDING FOR READING ha raggiunto la provincia di Dong Thap, nel Vietnam sud-occidentale. antenere un contatto diretto e continuo con il “tessuto sociale” e dare il proprio contributo per sostenere la comunità è fondamentale per la filiale vietnamita di GIVI. E lo sottolinea di anno in anno con il bellissimo progetto RIDING FOR READING. Anche in questa occasione, la “spedizione” si è rivelata un vero successo: un team di circa 20 persone è partito all’alba da Ho-Chi-Minh per raggiungere, dopo un viaggio di 4 ore, la città di Cao Lahn, nella provincia di Dong Thap. Lo scopo? Fornire articoli di cancelleria, quaderni, latte e altri alimenti alle scuole elementari nell’area di Hoa An, a sud-ovest del Paese. Meta della nostra squadra il Centro Governativo della città, scelto come punto di ritrovo, struttura estremamente essenziale ma capace di esprimere un senso di dignità quasi commovente… così come la quiete surreale (specialmente in presenza di una folla di bambini) che ha accolto i volontari una volta varcata la soglia dell’edificio. Seduti composti dietro tavoli di legno con le divise impeccabili lavate e stirate per l’occasione, i giovanissimi alunni hanno atteso in silenzio reverenziale l’arrivo dei tanto desiderati pacchi. Non è stato facile per i membri del team restare indifferenti di fronte all’innocenza e alla visibile gratitudine di bambini tanto poveri quanto educati e dignitosi. RIDING FOR READING rappresenta un’esperienza educativa per i partecipanti e per il nostro team un forte e costante momento emozionale; una lezione di vita che insegna ad apprezzare e non dare per scontata la propria fortuna. Un vero orgoglio per GIVI in tutto il mondo! GIVI VIETNAM SUPPORTS EDUCATION A few years ago, GIVI Vietnam launched a major charity initiative to raise funds and invest in the country’s primary schools and less fortunate pupils. This time, the RIDING FOR READING team reached the province of Dong Thap, in south western Vietnam. Maintaining direct and continuous contact with the “social fabric” and making a contribution to the community is fundamental for GIVI’s Vietnamese branch. This is confirmed year after year by the excellent RIDING FOR READING project. Once again, the “shipment” proved to be a success. A team of around 20 people left at dawn from Ho Chi Minh City to embark on a 4-hour journey to the city of Cao Lanh, in the Dong Thap Province. The goal? To provide stationery, notebooks, milk and other foodstuffs to primary schools in the Hoa An District, in the south west of the country. RIDING FOR READING Our team’s destination was the Government Centre, the city’s meeting point, a building that was extremely basic yet extremely dignified. A surreal stillness (especially in the presence of a crowd of children) greeted the volunteers as they entered the building. Seated calmly behind wooden tables and wearing impeccable uniforms that were washed and ironed for the occasion, the young pupils waited in respectful silence for the arrival of the much desired packages. The innocence and visible gratitude of the children, who are as poor as they are well-behaved and dignified, did not go unnoticed by the team members. RIDING FOR READING is an educational experience for the participants and an intense and constant emotional moment for our team; a life lesson that teaches us to appreciate and not take for granted our good fortune.
